Accompanying the first-documented CU-5c-1975D-01, this second cud for the 1975-D Jefferson nickel carries the JNC cross-reference 75D-5, placing it one position after the "-01" variety in the Jefferson Nickel Cuds registry (which assigned that piece JNC-75D-4). The sequential JNC numbers suggest these two cuds may have been documented in close temporal proximity, possibly from the same collector's submission or the same roll-searching session. Denver's 1975 nickel production of 401.9 million pieces ranks among the higher annual outputs for the facility, and having two (and likely more) documented cuds from this date confirms that the high volume created proportionally more opportunities for die rim failures. The 1975-D nickel occupies no special place in the series from a design or rarity standpoint -- Felix Schlag's portrait and Monticello reverse continued their long run without modification -- but the die break census tells its own production-floor narrative.
