Description
The 1974 (S) Silver Eisenhower Dollar is a dollar produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Eisenhower Dollars 1971-1978 series. With a mintage of 1.9 million, this is an extremely rare issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 3% of total production. The obverse features Dwight D. Eisenhower facing left and the reverse displays an eagle landing on the moon with an olive branch in its talons, commemorating the Apollo 11 lunar landing. The final year of the standard Eisenhower reverse before the Bicentennial design. The 1974-D with an "Ike" mintage of 45.5 million is the most commonly circulated date. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $39 depending on grade and condition.
