Description
The 1974 (D) Eisenhower Dollar is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Eisenhower Dollars 1971-1978 series. With a mintage of 45.5 million, this is a less common issue — the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 61% of the year's production. The obverse features Dwight D. Eisenhower facing left and the reverse displays an eagle landing on the moon with an olive branch in its talons, commemorating the Apollo 11 lunar landing. The final year of the standard Eisenhower reverse before the Bicentennial design. The 1974-D with an "Ike" mintage of 45.5 million is the most commonly circulated date. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $9 depending on grade and condition.
