RPM-003 is a Proof Jefferson Nickel repunched mintmark variety from the San Francisco Mint, attributed by VarietyVista and catalogued under die pair UVC-505, DMR-004. The mintmark shows an S/S rotated clockwise repunch, meaning the secondary punch impression is displaced in a clockwise rotation relative to the final mintmark position, a diagnostic that distinguishes this variety from a simple north or south repunch. Die state documentation covers three stages: Stage A records both the obverse and reverse at Early Die State; Stage B documents a Middle Die State condition, though this stage remains unconfirmed; Stage C is confirmed to exist. The 1972-S Proof Jefferson Nickel was struck in the standard 75% copper, 25% nickel alloy at San Francisco for inclusion in the annual proof set.
