MadDieClashes documented this 1972-D Eisenhower dollar die clash as a dual-event: the obverse shows a possible "Talon" clash, while the reverse reveals evidence of two separate clash incidents visible as two sets of Eisenhower's chin lines showing through the globe of the Apollo 11 reverse design. The dual clash is further confirmed by two lines generated by the top of Eisenhower's head passing through the right-side craters — each line corresponding to a distinct clash event that occurred at slightly different die alignments. Talon clashes on Eisenhower dollars are a specialized collecting niche where the eagle's talons from the reverse design leave raised marks on the obverse near Eisenhower's neck or throat area, and the "possible" characterization here suggests the talon evidence is present but not definitively strong. The two-event reverse clash is particularly interesting because the dual chin sets through the globe document two separate occasions when the dies struck each other without an intervening planchet — and the fact that both events left visible evidence means neither clash was fully removed by die polishing before the die returned to service.
