Cataloged by VarietyVista as UVC-151 with die marriage DMR-003, the 1969-S Proof Kennedy Half Dollar DDR-001 displays medium spread on the stars positioned beneath the letters of OF AMERICA on the reverse. Struck from reverse die variety RDV-003 paired with obverse die ODV-002a (designated Modified Design Obverse), this proof variety carries multiple design variant identifiers alongside its doubled die classification. Three die states are documented: early die state remains unconfirmed, mid die state shows a die gouge at the left lower portion of C in AMERICA with the obverse also in MDS, and late die state is unconfirmed. The focus of doubling on the stars beneath OF AMERICA — rather than on the letters themselves — makes this variety distinctive, as star doubling creates small but precise pairs of star points that can be systematically compared under magnification. The 1969-S Proof Kennedy Half Dollar was struck at the San Francisco Mint during the period when proof half dollars were still being produced in 40% silver (1965-1970), adding composition significance to this proof DDR variety.
