About This Coin
The 1964 Peace Dollar is a United States dollar from the Peace Dollars 1921-1935 series — the final year of the series. In 1964, coins were struck at the Denver Mint. The obverse features a youthful Liberty facing left wearing a radiate crown, designed after sculptor Anthony de Francisci's wife Teresa and the reverse displays a bald eagle perched on a rock above the word PEACE, with rays of sunlight. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. A notable auction result reached $2.3K in MS64 grade at eBay. Designed by Anthony de Francisci.
