1964-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-018

Description

The eighteenth doubled die reverse for the 1964-D Roosevelt Dime, DDR-018 displays light spread on UNITED, ONE DIME, and AMERICA — a different set of doubled elements than DDR-004, which affects STATES OF AMERICA and the torch flame. Die markers include UVC-474 and DMR-022, with Stage A confirmed in early-to-mid die state for both reverse and obverse. The obverse is identified as ODV-011, characterized by a blunt 9 in the date 1964 — where the tail of the numeral ends abruptly without tapering, contrasting directly with the pointed 9 of ODV-010 found on DDR-004. This pointed-versus-blunt distinction in the numeral 9 is one of the most useful quick-sort tools for attributing 1964-D varieties, allowing collectors to narrow the candidate list before examining finer die markers. The different doubled elements confirm these were struck from entirely different working dies, each receiving unique doubling during the hubbing process.
