Proof-struck at Philadelphia, this 1963 Roosevelt Dime DDR-008 exhibits light spread on UNITED and ONE — two reverse inscriptions positioned in different quadrants, confirming broad hub displacement that affected widely separated design elements. The proof format provides mirror-like fields that enhance the visibility of even light-class spread, making this variety more detectable on proof specimens than comparable spread would be on business strikes. Three die stages are tracked under catalog codes UVC-408 and DMR-015. Stage A records both the reverse and obverse in early die state, establishing that the doubling was present from the die's first production strikes. Stage B confirms both sides in mid-die state. Stage C at late die state remains unconfirmed, suggesting the die may have been retired before reaching advanced deterioration.
