Description
The 1962 Roosevelt Dime was struck at the Philadelphia Mint as a dime in the Roosevelt Silver Dimes 1946-1964 series. The U.S. Mint produced 72.5 million examples, making this the lower-mintage of the two mint variants. The obverse features Franklin D. Roosevelt facing left, honoring the president who championed the March of Dimes and the reverse displays a torch flanked by olive and oak branches, symbolizing liberty, peace, and strength. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $7 to $12 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 2.5 grams, 17.9 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #5124.
