1960-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-006

Description
Tracked by VarietyVista across two reverse die pairings as UVC-643/DMR-011 and UVC-644/DMR-012, RPM-006 spans four die stages on the 1960-D Large Date Lincoln Memorial cent. Under the first reverse die (UVC-643/DMR-011), Stages A through C document the initial production run, capturing the evolution of the secondary mintmark impression alongside the progressive accumulation of die deterioration markers. Die cracks, chips, and breaks characteristic of high-volume production develop across these stages, providing collectors with clear diagnostic criteria for determining where their specimen falls in the die's life cycle. After the reverse die change at Stage D (UVC-644/DMR-012), the obverse continues in service with a fresh reverse, demonstrating that the obverse die outlasted its first reverse partner — a common occurrence in Denver's high-volume operations where reverse dies, bearing the more intricate Memorial design, tended to deteriorate faster than the portrait obverse. The 1960-D Large Date subtype represents the earlier production phase at Denver before the mid-year introduction of the Small Date hub, and RPM-006 adds to the roster of repunched mintmark varieties documented during this initial production window.
