Description
Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1960-D 5¢ WRPM-002, this Jefferson Nickel exhibits a D/D Tilted (Rotated) repunched mintmark. Cross-referenced as CONECA RPM #1, with the RPM photo taken by Brian Ribar. Obverse die markers include a die gouge near the rim centered between IN and GOD. Reverse markers show die scratches in different directions from the upper right of Monticello, creating a distinctive multi-directional pattern. The CONECA RPM #1 cross-reference indicates this was the first repunched mintmark cataloged by the Combined Organizations of Numismatic Error Collectors of America for the 1960-D date. Composed of 75% copper and 25% nickel, weighing 5.0 grams with a 21.21 mm diameter. Struck at the Denver Mint in 1960.
