Close spread on rim-adjacent lettering defines WDDR-001 on the 1959 Denver Mint Roosevelt Dime, with DIME and UNITED showing the strongest separation. Struck in 90% silver as one of the final silver-composition dimes before the 1965 clad transition, this variety is cross-referenced as CONECA 1-R-II, confirming it as the first reverse doubled die of Class II type cataloged for the date. Class II distorted hub doubling produces center-directed spread, and on the reverse rim letters, this displacement creates extra thickness or close separation most visible on design elements nearest the rim where the spread's magnitude is greatest.
