Description

Tracked by VarietyVista across two reverse die pairings as UVC-615/DMR-010 and UVC-616/DMR-011, RPM-006 spans four die stages on the 1959-D Lincoln Memorial cent and reveals the dramatic deterioration that Memorial reverse dies underwent during high-volume production. Under the first reverse die, Stage A shows the obverse at early die state paired with a reverse already exhibiting a large die break on column 12 and a die break at the right eave, both late die state markers indicating the reverse die had already seen substantial use. After the reverse die change (UVC-616/DMR-011), Stage B pairs the obverse at mid die state with a fresh reverse at early die state. Stage C marks the most eventful progression: a die crack runs north-south through Lincoln's hair at late-to-mid die state, while the new reverse develops a small and a medium die break on column 12, plus a die crack on column 1. By Stage D, the obverse reaches late-to-mid die state with one small and one large die break on column 12, confirming terminal die deterioration. Column 12 of the Memorial appears consistently vulnerable across multiple die states and pairings, a pattern observed across several 1959-D RPM varieties.
