The "very close" qualifier means primary and secondary hub impressions nearly overlap, with only minimal lateral displacement producing subtle broadening of letter strokes. A distinctive reverse die marker accompanies this variety: a die dot on the dome of Monticello — a small raised bump on the struck coin corresponding to a pit in the die surface.
