1958-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-012

Description

From the terminal year of Victor David Brenner's wheat ears reverse, this 1958-D Lincoln Wheat Cent displays a D/D/D Rotated CW, Rotated CCW triple-punched mintmark with opposing rotational directions. Die markers UVC-599 / DMR-015: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with a light die crack on forehead at MDS and reverse at MDS; Stage C with a die chip in hair and die gouges under bust at LDS, with reverse at LDS. The opposing CW and CCW rotations in the triple-punch create a complex overlap pattern where secondary D impressions are tilted in opposite angular directions. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1958-D was the final Denver Mint Wheat Cent before Gasparro's Memorial reverse replaced it in 1959, making this a terminal-year RPM of particular series-end significance.
