1958-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-008

Description

A D/D Northeast displacement documented by VarietyVista, this 1958-D Lincoln Wheat Cent was struck at Denver during the final year of the wheat ears reverse. Die markers UVC-595 / DMR-011 track three stages: Stage A with obverse and reverse at EDS; Stage B with both at MDS; Stage C at LDS with a die crack on the forehead, a die crack over V.D.B., and the reverse at LDS. The dual LDS cracks on the forehead and V.D.B. document two separate structural failure zones during the die's final production phase. At 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1958-D was the last Denver Mint Wheat Cent before the Memorial design debuted in 1959. Terminal-year varieties hold special significance for series completists.
