1953-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-025

Description

A D/D Rotated CW variety documented by VarietyVista, this Denver Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent records a reverse die change and extensive die cracking at the later stages. Die markers span two pairings: UVC-1072 / DMR-029 for Stages A-C and UVC-1143 / DMR-034 for Stage D. Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with obverse and reverse at MDS; Stage C with a die crack on forehead at LDS, a die crack in hair, and a die chip on T of CENT at LDS; Stage D with a heavy die crack on forehead at VLDS, a heavy die crack in hair, a die chip in lower O of GOD, a die crack connecting GOD and W of WE, reverse die changed at MDS, and two small die chips in upper left wheat grains. The GOD-to-WE connecting crack documents fracture propagation across the motto inscription. Struck at Denver in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
