1953-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-024

Description

A D/D Tilted variety documented by VarietyVista, this Denver Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent tracks five die stages with notable die clash evidence and progressive forehead cracking. Die markers UVC-1054 / DMR-027: Stage A with obverse at EDS and a small die gouge between last A of AMERICA and wheat at EDS; Stage B with obverse and reverse at EMDS; Stage C with a light die clash at throat and behind neck at MDS, a light die crack across forehead, and a new die scratch pattern on reverse at MDS; Stage D with a stronger die crack across forehead at LMDS and die gouge on reverse gone at LMDS; Stage E at LDS (unconfirmed). The die clash at throat documents a striking press malfunction, and the new die scratch pattern at Stage C suggests reverse die resurfacing. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, struck during robust Denver Mint production.
