1953-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-023

Description

A D/D/D West, Lower Serif triple-punched mintmark, this VarietyVista-documented 1953-D Lincoln Wheat Cent RPM-023 records both a reverse die change and persistent die chips through its four-stage history. Die markers span two pairings: UVC-476 / DMR-026 for Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed) and Stage B with obverse at EMDS and die chips on the stem of T of CENT at LDS; then UVC-3073 / DMR-037 for Stage C with obverse at MDS and reverse die changed to EDS, and Stage D with obverse at LDS and die chips on stem of T of CENT at MDS. The T-of-CENT die chips persisting across both reverse pairings confirm they originated on the obverse die rather than either reverse. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the triple D/D/D with lower serif detail documents the punch architecture with unusual precision.
