1952-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-021

Description

Displaying a D/D Rotated CCW displacement, this VarietyVista-documented 1952-D Lincoln Wheat Cent provides extensive die deterioration documentation across three stages. Die markers UVC-1086 / DMR-024: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with a die crack from rim over V.D.B. onto shoulder at LMDS, die clash at throat and behind neck, and reverse at LMDS; Stage C with a die crack on forehead at LDS, a light die crack on back of lower lapel, and a die chip on the T of CENT at LDS. The die clash at throat and behind neck indicates the die pair made unintended contact during a mishit, transferring design elements between faces. The counterclockwise rotation creates a distinctive angular overlap. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, struck at the Denver Mint during Victor David Brenner's obverse design's fifth decade.
