1951-S Repunched Mintmark WRPM-004

Description

An S/S West repunched mint mark, WRPM-004 on the 1951 San Francisco Mint Roosevelt Dime documents the secondary S punch impression shifted leftward from the primary position. Struck in 90% silver, this variety is cross-referenced as CONECA RPM #5 and cataloged under Wexler Variety ID 1951-S 10¢ WRPM-004. The westward displacement creates a distinctive doubled mint mark diagnostic where the secondary impression extends to the left of the primary letter. Repunched mint marks from the pre-1990 era result from individual hand punching of each working die, and the west-directed offset indicates the initial punch landed left of the intended position before the corrected application.
