1950-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-003

Description

Third cataloged repunched mint mark for the 1950 Denver Mint Roosevelt Dime, RPM-003 shows a D/D repunched northeast. Struck in the 90% silver composition used for all Roosevelt Dimes from the series debut in 1946 through 1964, the 1950-D was produced during the early years of John R. Sinnock's enduring design. Repunched mint marks occurred when the small D punch was applied to the working die more than once with slight positional variation, and northeast displacement on this variety indicates the first punch landed slightly southwest of the final position. Cataloged by VarietyVista with die tracking codes UVC-198 and DMR-006. Stage A is documented as early die state (unconfirmed), while Stage B shows the reverse at mid-die state. These die state observations help collectors identify which press run produced their specimen and gauge relative scarcity — early die state examples typically survive in smaller numbers. The 1950 Roosevelt Dime is a relatively early issue in a series now spanning more than seven decades, and Denver Mint RPMs from this period are pursued by silver-era variety specialists.
