1950-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-029

Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1950-D 1-cent WRPM-029, this Lincoln Wheat Cent shows a D/D Tilted (Rotated) repunched mintmark with extensive obverse die markers: a die gouge under the R of TRUST, a die scratch in the ear running east, a die gouge at the throat, and two die gouges in the field before the chin. The reverse features a large die chip on the lower T of CENT documenting material loss. No external cross-references are known. Struck at Denver in 1950 in 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams at 19.05 mm diameter, this cent bears Brenner's Lincoln portrait and wheat ears design. The concentration of markers around Lincoln's face and the TRUST motto makes this variety identifiable even on moderately circulated specimens.
