Description
The 1950 (D) Franklin Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Franklin Half Dollars 1948-1963 series. With a mintage of 8.0 million, this is a less common issue โ the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 51% of production. The obverse features Benjamin Franklin facing right and the reverse displays the Liberty Bell. San Francisco struck its final Franklin Half in 1950, though they returned in 1951. The 1950 is scarce in FBL. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $37 to $272 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #6657.
