Description

Displaying an unusually complex dual-mechanism doubling pattern, WDDR-001 on the 1947-D Roosevelt Dime combines two distinct displacement types on John R. Sinnock's reverse. A clockwise spread from a pivot at 11 o'clock shows on ONE DIME — Class V pivoted hub doubling rotating around an upper-left axis — while simultaneously, a separate spread toward the center appears on DIME, AMERICA, NUM of UNUM, right outer leaves, and the right dot. This combination of rotational and center-directed displacement on different elements suggests a compound hubbing event where the hub both rotated and shifted laterally between impressions, producing two geometrically distinct spread patterns on a single die. The breadth of elements affected by the center-directed component indicates displacement influenced a substantial portion of the reverse. The 1947-D Roosevelt Dime was struck at the Denver Mint in 90% silver at 2.5 grams, among the early issues of the series. No cross-references beyond the Wexler designation are known.
