1947-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-003

Description

Notable for documenting a reverse die change mid-production, this VarietyVista-recorded 1947-D Lincoln Wheat Cent RPM-003 shows a D/D South displacement with two distinct die pairings. Die markers cover two reverse dies: UVC-1167 / DMR-010 for Stage A with obverse at EDS and reverse at LDS; then UVC-285 / DMR-005 for Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed) with reverse die changed at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C with a light die crack over eye at LDS and reverse at LDS. The reverse die state jumping from LDS back to a fresh die proves the reverse was replaced while the RPM obverse continued in service. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, struck at the Denver Mint. The eye die crack at Stage C provides a late-state obverse attribution marker that persisted after the reverse die swap.
