1947-D Repunched Mintmark WRPM-019

Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team, the 1947-D Lincoln Wheat Cent WRPM-019 shows a D/D Tilted or Rotated repunched mintmark where the second impression sits at a slight angle to the first. The obverse displays a light reverse die clash at Lincoln's throat — evidence of a prior clash event — along with die scratches extending west from the top of the head at the rear. Cross-referenced as Coppercoins 1947D-1MM-010, this regular strike variety features extensive reverse die markers: a die scratch running west-northwest from the upper left E in AMERICA to the bottom of T in UNITED, northwest-southeast die scratches through the first U in PLURIBUS, and a west-northwest to east-southeast die scratch through the I of PLURIBUS connecting the R on the left and B on the right. This network of reverse die scratches, combined with the obverse clash remnant at the throat, provides robust attribution support beyond the mintmark repunching alone.
