Description

Holding the primary catalog position for the 1947-D date, this VarietyVista-documented Lincoln Wheat Cent is notable for documenting a reverse die change mid-production. Die markers span two pairings: UVC-282 / DMR-002 for Stage A with obverse at EDS and reverse at LDS; then UVC-283 / DMR-003 for Stage B at MDS with reverse die changed to EDS (unconfirmed), Stage C with a light die crack on forehead at LDS and reverse at MDS, and Stage D with obverse at VLDS and reverse at LDS. The reverse condition jumping from LDS back to EDS between Stage A and Stage B confirms the original reverse was replaced while the RPM obverse continued in service.
