1945-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-021

Description

RPM-021 on the 1945-S Lincoln Wheat Cent shows the S mintmark punched over a previous S displaced to the South (S/S South), with the Trumpet Tail mintmark style (MMS-004), attributed by VarietyVista. Die markers are UVC-223 and DMR-024. Stage A is early die state (unconfirmed). The Trumpet Tail designation (MMS-004) refers to the distinctive flared lower terminal of the S punch used at San Francisco during this period, catalogued as a separate mintmark style from the later Sans Serif punches.
