1945-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-004

Description

A D/D Rotated CCW variety documented by VarietyVista, this 1945-D wartime silver Jefferson Nickel pairs the repunched mintmark with an obverse die listed as DDO-010, creating a dual-variety coin. Die markers UVC-265 / DMR-006: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with reverse at MDS and obverse listed as DDO-010 at MDS; Stage C with a die crack from the right dome southeast outside pillar #4 at LMDS, obverse at LMDS; Stage D with reverse at LDS and a die crack northwest through the hair to rim at K-11:30 at LDS. The counter-clockwise rotational displacement produces a distinctive angular overlap where the secondary D is tilted relative to the primary. Struck in 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm at the Denver Mint during the final year of wartime silver alloy production.
