1942-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-015

Description

RPM-015 on the 1942-S Lincoln Wheat Cent is cataloged under die UVC-1163 / DMR-017. The repunching is S/S West — secondary S displaced west of the primary. Stage B (MDS) shows a small die gouge dot between the E of WE and the T of TRUST on the reverse, and a light die crack running northwest from the E of ONE toward the second U of PLURIBUS. The WE/TRUST gouge dot is the most distinctive die marker for rapid confirmation under low magnification. The 1942-S Lincoln Wheat Cent is a bronze (95% copper) San Francisco Mint issue struck a year before the wartime steel cent.
