1942-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-007

Description

An S/S West variety from San Francisco documented by VarietyVista, this 1942-S wartime silver Jefferson Nickel displays extensive Stage B die cracking across both faces. Die markers UVC-049 / DMR-008: Stage A with reverse and obverse at EDS; Stage B with a light die crack south from the right dome at MDS, a die crack south from E of MONTICELLO through O of OF, a die crack from pillar #1 top to pillar #2 bottom, and a die crack southeast through the hair at MDS; Stage C at LDS (unconfirmed). Specimens are needed for new digital color photos. The four simultaneous Stage B die cracks spanning dome, inscription, pillars, and portrait document rapid deterioration of both die faces. Composed of 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm, this San Francisco issue features the oversized S above Monticello.
