1941-S Doubled Die Reverse DDR-002

Description

This 1941-S Lincoln Wheat Cent from the San Francisco Mint carries the DDR-002 doubled die reverse, a dual variety whose obverse is also MMS-002 featuring a small S mintmark. The reverse doubling shows a light spread on E PLURIBUS UNUM and the upper wheat ears, with extra thickness visible on the stems and AMERICA. Die marriage DMR-020 with die marker UVC-1512 documents Stage A in Early Die State showing a die gouge through the lower horizontal bar of E in E PLURIBUS, with the obverse MMS-002 small mintmark confirmed at Late Die State.
