Exhibiting a D over D displaced to the southwest, this 1938-D Lincoln Wheat Cent repunched mintmark is cataloged as UVC-061/062 with a die marriage rating of DMR-003/004, reflecting multiple die states tracked under paired catalog numbers. The variety progresses through three stages across two reverse dies. Stage A shows a strong secondary mintmark in early die state, paired with a reverse that develops a light die crack from the L of PLURIBUS to the O of ONE at late die state. Stage B at mid die state remains unconfirmed. Stage C reveals a weakened secondary mintmark at late die state, by which time the original reverse has been replaced with a fresh die at mid state.
