1936-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Cataloged by VarietyVista as RPM-001 under die markers UVC-053 and DMR-002, this 1936 San Francisco Lincoln wheat cent carries the first repunched mintmark listing for the date. Three die states track the variety's progression. Stage A in early die state shows a strong secondary mintmark with heavy circular die scratches under the bust and an early die state reverse. By Stage B at mid die state, the secondary mintmark has weakened to medium visibility, the circular die scratches have worn away, and a light die crack has developed in the upper left wheat grains. Stage C in late die state remains unconfirmed.
