1935-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

Holding the primary catalog position for the 1935-D date, this VarietyVista-documented Washington Silver Quarter displays extensive die cracking at the late die stage. Die markers UVC-0033 / DMR-003 track three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with reverse and obverse at MDS; Stage C at LDS with a die crack down the eagle's right wing, a die crack from S of PLURIBUS to the wing under AME of AMERICA, a die crack across the upper hair, and a die crack across the bust. The four concurrent Stage C die cracks spanning both reverse eagle and obverse portrait document severe late-life structural failure. Designed by John Flanagan, struck at the Denver Mint in 90% silver and 10% copper at 6.25 grams and 24.3 mm, the 1935-D was only the fourth year of Washington Quarter production, with early-date RPMs holding particular collector significance.
