Struck in 1934 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Maryland colony by Cecil Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore, in 1634. The obverse features a bust of Cecil Calvert (Lord Baltimore), the founder of the Maryland colony, facing left, while the reverse displays the Maryland state coat of arms featuring the Calvert and Crossland family shields. Designed by Hans Schuler. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9328. Its elegant portrait and detailed coat of arms make it one of the more visually refined designs in the classic commemorative series.
