Description

Produced during one of the darkest years of the Great Depression — the same year President Roosevelt took office and halted gold coin production — the 1933-D Lincoln Wheat Cent carries historical weight beyond its numismatic variety status. This third documented repunched mintmark for the date (Wexler Variety ID: 1933-D 1¢ WRPM-003) preserves evidence of a mintmark placement correction at the Denver Mint, where the D punch was applied at least twice to a working die.
