Description

This 1926 (S) Lincoln Wheat cent displays a rim cud on the obverse at 5:30. The break sits along the lower right rim below the date, where a section of the obverse die rim fractured and separated, leaving a cavity that filled with planchet metal on each strike. Obverse cuds are the scarcer of the two orientations on Lincoln cents. The 1926-S is the lowest-mintage San Francisco Wheat cent of the decade at 4,550,000 pieces, and the only variety previously cataloged for the date is a doubled die obverse.
