Description

VDDR-001 on the 1925-D Buffalo Nickel shows strong extra thickness across UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and FIVE CENTS — I-2 Class IV Offset Hub Doubling visible across all three major reverse legends simultaneously. Die marker codes are UVC-??? and DMR-00?, with Stage A documented as early die state (unconfirmed) and Stage B as middle die state (unconfirmed). VarietyVista cross-reference: VDDR-001. The Buffalo Nickel, designed by James Earle Fraser and minted from 1913 through 1938, features a composite Native American portrait on the obverse and an American bison — modeled on Black Diamond of the Central Park Zoo — on the reverse. Denver Mint Buffalo Nickels of 1925 were struck from working dies hand-punched with the D mintmark. The extra thickness across three full legends makes VDDR-001 one of the more visually substantial Buffalo Nickel reverse doubled die attributions. The unconfirmed die state designations for both stages reflect the ongoing documentation refinement of this variety in the VarietyVista reference.
