1924-S Repunched Mintmark RPM-001

Description

Holding the primary catalog position for the 1924-S date, this VarietyVista-documented Lincoln Wheat Cent shows S/S South displacement with extensive Stage A reverse die cracking and a mid-production reverse die change. Die markers span two pairings: UVC-1148 / DMR-003 covers Stage A with obverse at EDS and multiple reverse die cracks — from the left wheat lines to rim at VLDS, from the right wheat grains to rim, from E of ONE north to a dot, and from N of ONE north to rim through the second U of PLURIBUS. Then UVC-011 / DMR-002 covers Stage B with obverse at MDS and reverse die changed at MDS. Stage C is LDS (unconfirmed). The original reverse's VLDS designation alongside the obverse's EDS confirms the reverse wore out far faster. Struck in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm at the San Francisco Mint during the Roaring Twenties.
