Description
The 1924 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent is a cent minted at the Denver Mint, within the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. With a mintage of 2.5 million, this is a scarce issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 3% of total production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. The 1924-D is a semi-key date with relatively low mintage for the era. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $38 to $721 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams, 19 mm in diameter, with a plain edge.
