Error
Description
Documented by VarietyVista as the third cataloged RPM for the 1924-D semi-key date, this Denver Mint Buffalo Nickel shows a D/D South displacement. Die markers UVC-061 / DMR-004: Stage A EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B reverse and obverse MDS; Stage C LDS (unconfirmed). The cataloger requests new color, high-magnification digital photographs. Three RPMs for the 1924-D suggest enough working dies were manufactured despite the lower mintage of approximately 5.3 million to generate detectable placement variations. Fraser's design was struck in 75% copper and 25% nickel at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm. The southward displacement follows the same directional pattern as RPM-002 for this date, hinting at a possible systematic tendency in D punch application for 1924-D working dies manufactured at the Philadelphia die shop for use at the Denver facility.
