Description
The 1919 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent represents a Denver Mint issue from the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. The U.S. Mint produced 57.2 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 10% of total production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. The Denver Mint, which grew from an 1860s gold rush assay office, has served as a major production facility since 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $154 depending on grade and condition.
