The 1918 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent is a cent minted at the San Francisco Mint, within the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. The U.S. Mint produced 34.7 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 9% of total production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Coined at the San Francisco Mint, which transitioned from Gold Rush-era production to its modern role producing proof and collector issues.
