Description
Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 1915 Indian Head Eagle is part of the Indian Head Eagles 1907-1933 series. With a mintage of 351,000, this is a less common issue — the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 86% of production. The obverse features a Native American wearing a feathered war bonnet, facing left and the reverse displays a standing eagle with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST. Philadelphia and San Francisco struck eagles. The 1915-S is a better date. Coined at the Philadelphia facility, the nation's original mint that has operated continuously since its 1792 founding. Estimated market value ranges from $2.6K to $3.4K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 16.7 grams, 26.8 mm in diameter, with a raised stars edge. Cataloged as PCGS #8878.
