Description
The 1908 (D) Indian Head Eagle - No Motto was struck at the Denver Mint as a Gold Eagle in the Indian Head Eagles 1907-1933 series. With a mintage of 210,000, this is a less common issue — ranked 3rd of 5 mint variants by mintage, with 14% of production. The obverse features a Native American wearing a feathered war bonnet, facing left and the reverse displays a standing eagle with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST. Both "No Motto" and "With Motto" varieties exist after Congress mandated restoration of IN GOD WE TRUST mid-year. Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco struck coins. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Estimated market value ranges from $2.6K to $6.7K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 16.7 grams, 26.8 mm in diameter, with a raised stars edge.
