1904-P VAM-5 Doubled Profile and Ear Discovered by Martin Field, April 1982. Revised 2003, 2016, 2017 5 (revised) III2 5 - C4a (Doubled Profile) (189) Obverse III2 5 - Slightly doubled profile of Liberty head, from forehead down to nose, lips and chin. Die 1 Die marker - Several diagonal die polishing lines below inner ear fill. Die 2 Die marker - Two tiny die chips lower right outside of bottom cotton leaf. Reverse C4a - Die 1 - Two diagonal die gouges out right outside of eagle's left leg. Die marker - Diagonal line and two raised dots above in eagle's wing-neck gap. Die 2 Die marker - Occurs with die 2 obverse. Faint diagonal polishing lines in wing-neck gap. Emission Sequence Obverse: Reverse: Comments: The VAM-5A is the LDS of VAM-5 Die 1. The original VAM-5 VAM Plate in the 2003 VAM Supplement is for VAM-5 Die 1 and VAM-5A. VAM-5 Die 1 and VAM-5A is a completely different set of dies than VAM-5 Die 2. Wanna be confused? In June 2017, Leroy changed the VAM-5 Die #1 to VAM-5 Die #2, and VAM-5 Die #2 to VAM-5 Die #1.
