Description

Discovered by Michael Ash in February 2007, VAM-4B documents a Near Date with Die Chips on Stars for the 1902 New Orleans Morgan Dollar. Classified 4B III2 3, C4a reverse. Heavy die wear surrounds both left and right stars, with die chips at the 3rd through 5th right stars and 7th left star. New Orleans struck approximately 8.64 million dollars in 1902, just two years before its final Morgan Dollar production in 1904 and seven years before permanent closure in 1909. The B suffix indicates this is a distinct die state of the primary VAM-4 marriage, with star die chips defining this particular stage. Cataloged by VAMWorld.
